The Four Fields of Awareness

Discussion Facilitator: Bruce Cantwell.

Introduction

The other day I was embarrassed to discover that I've been studying and practicing the Satipatthana Sutta for over seven years. The sutta comes with a guarantee that if one practices it for seven years, they can expect the fruits of final knowledge. I don't think I'm there yet, so I've decided to crowdsource this thing with all of you.

Fruits of Final Knowledge

If anyone should develop these four fields of awareness in such a way for seven years, the fruit of final knowledge can be expected.

Let alone seven years. If anyone should develop these four fields of awareness in such a way for six years ... for five years ... for four years ... for three years ... for two years ... for one year, for seven months ... for six months ... for five months ... for four months ... for three months … for two months ... for one month ... for half a month, for seven days, final knowledge here and now can be expected.
