Stephanie's Passion for Root Buddies!

My name is Stephanie. I am a freshman in college. For a really long time I have organized multiple events to create change in the Hispanic community in order to bring awareness of the many things that take place in this community. WIth this I was able to gain abilities to now bring awareness about how impactful climate justice can be. WIth Root Buddies I was able to get out of my comfort zone and learn about how important climate justice is and the action that needs to take place.

I strongly believe that as young people we have the responsibility to create an impact and make sure that future generations have a clean and habitable place. Therefore I think it's essential for us to be provided with the resources and the tools to bring awareness about this really important matter. That is why the Root Buddies workshop is something I am really passionate about. Creating a change one step at a time.

Evelyn's Passion for Root Buddies!

Evelyn

My name is Evelyn Michelle, and I’m currently a senior in high school. Since middle school I’ve been interested in climate change/justice but haven’t had the chance/opportunity, outside of school, to participate in something related to it. With time, my desire to make a change began to fade, but then I heard about the Leaven Youth Garden Program (we named Root Buddies) and joined this small but mighty group!

As youth, it is important to come together and work towards the future we envision for ourselves, not only because Climate Change will directly affect us, but because it is the correct thing to do. It is our duty, and it is in our hands to establish the future we want.
