The Longest Night: A Queer Grief and Love Ritual

  • Leaven Community 5431 NE 20th Ave Portland, OR 97211 United States (map)

Each year during the holiday season, many of us Queer folx hold complex grief and ambiguous loss, as we negotiate relationships (or not) with family members, feel into our needs, and set boundaries for our love and survival.

This year, we navigate these same complexities alongside a future that is increasingly unknown. This Longest Night ritual, held on the eve of the Winter Solstice, is offered in collaboration with FABRIC (Feel and Be Real in Community) and will open a space to honor, process, and love what is true for each of us about being Queer at this very moment.

We’ll meet in the sanctuary to share stories (as desired), sing, move our bodies, walk the labyrinth, light candles and write/draw, rage, and rest, concluding with the truth mandala practice developed by Joanna Macy.

This is a space for Queer folks. Allies who have been invited by their Queer loved ones are also welcome.

This event is designed and led by Deacon Bonnie Beadles-Bohling, Pax Stewart, Stacy Carleton, and Alison Killeen.
