Salad Reception Potluck to Follow
Join us as we gather to celebrate the installation and commitment of Alison Killeen into leadership at Leaven Community and Salt and Light Lutheran Church. We will make a public commitment to Alison, and she will make a commitment to the community. Together we commit to BE, LOVE and ACT TOGETHER, as we deepen relationships and create change for more equitable, diverse, and thriving neighborhoods for all.
Families, friends and children are welcome! You may also attend remotely via Zoom—please RSVP and we will send you the Zoom link.
Following the Installation, we will gather to enjoy a salad potluck. If you're able, please bring a salad to share!

Calling all Singers and Musicians!
During the installation service for Rev. Alison Killeen, Leaven's "Seat of the Pants" choir and musicians will be performing "One Voice" by the Wailin Jennys and "Chico Gospel" by MaMuse. We'ld love to have you join us and have two rehearsal opportunites, Sunday, June 4, 12-2PM and Saturday, June 10, 3-5PM at Leaven Community Center, 5431 NE 20th Ave, Portland, OR 97211.
What is an Installation?
An installation is a rite practiced by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and other Christian traditions where a pastor is publicly placed into their role in a specific congregation. While ordination happens only once in a pastor's ministry, an installation happens each time they begin serving in a new congregation or role. At this event, the Bishop of the Oregon Synod of the ELCA will install Alison as pastor at Salt and Light Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend the Lutheran installation rite.
Also at this event, the broader Leaven Community will “install” Alison as their Director-Organizer through a commitment ceremony and ritual blessing hosted by the community. The Planning Team is taking care to ensure that many of the varied voices in our community are represented. Please join us!
