Leaven Community’s “Everybody Read Book'“
Gathering 3: Thursday, August 15, 6:30-8:30pm
Location: Mary Beth Weaver and Mary Peterson's Home
2915 NE Flanders St.
Focus: Emergent Strategy pp. 103-166
Summer Sabbath is a time to slow down and reflect together. This year's "Leaven Everybody Reads Book" is Emergent Strategy -- a powerful book by adrienne marie brown, in which she writes "If love were the central practice of a new generation of organizers and spiritual leaders, it would have a massive impact on what was considered organizing. If the goal was to increase the love, rather than winning or dominating a constant opponent, I think we could actually imagine liberation from constant oppression."
We are gathering three times throughout the summer in people's homes and backyards to reflect, integrate and make meaning from our stories, be grounded together, and be fed for the life and work ahead. No need to have come to the previous gathering -- jump right in and rest and reflect with us!
Pick up a copy and get reading! And, no need to have read the chapters before you come to the Reflections gatherings, although it will certainly enrich the conversation. Bring a friend -- all are welcome! Bring a snack or a sip to share if you like
