In this 90-minute staged reading, live practical foley sound effects – including a massive drum that is cauldron, armies and beating heart – set the mood for Shakespeare’s murderous tale. Experience the show on Oct. 30 at Leaven Community Center, 5431 N.E. 20th Ave. Proceeds benefit Portland Actors Ensemble, Portland’s original Shakespeare in the Parks since 1970. Directed and produced by Cynthia J. McGean, longtime dramaturg for Willamette Radio Workshop.

This is an intense version, very visceral storytelling, minimalist style, drums, rain stick, thunder. And a kickass cast featuring Nick Cotter as Macbeth, Megan Murphy Ruckman as Lady M, John Duffy as Banquo, Lucas Friedman as Macduff, Mark M Twohy on Foley, with the three witches - Amanda Cotter , Phaedra Adams , and Rebekah Hetrick, also inhabiting other characters while orchestrating much mischief. Autumn Trapani is our stage manager.
