About the Leaven Center
The Leaven Center welcomes all those who seek a place of beauty, refreshment,
and reflection. The Leaven Center is near Lyons, Michigan, midway
between Lansing and Grand Rapids. The property has
a special magic which makes it ideal for individual and group retreats.
Meditative pathways wind through woods, through fields of wildflowers,
and alongside the Grand River. A bench in the orchard looks out over
rolling farmland. By a spring-fed stream you can pause to listen to
water tumbling over moss-covered rocks.
The Leaven Center has two facilities — the Lodge and the Guest
House — available for rental by groups, agencies, and organizations
whose purposes are in accord with Leaven’s mission. The Lodge
and the Guest House can be rented separately or together, depending
on the needs of the group. Guests at either facility will have access
to walking trails, woods, a spring-fed stream, and river
frontage.
The Lodge
The beautiful log-faced Lodge offers 5,000 square feet of space and
a spectacular view of the Grand River. The ground floor is barrier-free
and has three bedrooms, two baths, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining
and living area, glassed-in porch, and a large meeting room with picture
windows that look out on the Grand River. The walkout basement has
four bedrooms, two baths, a sitting room, and porch.
The Lodge can accommodate up to 17 people overnight. Five bedrooms
have two single beds each; one bedroom has three beds, and one bedroom
has four. The meeting room can accommodate daytime groups up to 40.
Weeknights (Sunday-Thursday, 5 pm - 2 pm):
Rate: $40/person/night, with a minimum rental rate of $480/night.
Deposit: $150
Weekends (Friday 5 pm - Sunday 2 pm):
Rate: $40/person/night, with a minimum rental rate of $480/night.
On weekends there is a two-night minimum (totaling $960).
Deposit: $400
Linens (bedding and towels) are included. Meals are not included.
There is a fully-equipped kitchen where groups can prepare their
own meals. Groups also can request a list of local caterers.
Weekday rates (9 am - 5 pm):
Rate: $20.00/person with a $200 minimum.
Deposit: $100
The daytime rental includes the use of the meeting room, kitchen,
living/dining room, downstairs lounge, glassed-in porch, outside
porches, VCR, easel, and CD player. Access to Leaven Center land
is also included. Meals are not included. There is a fully-equipped
kitchen where groups can prepare their own meals. Groups also can
request a list of caterers.
The Guest House
The Guest House has two bedrooms, a living/dining room, fully-equipped
kitchen, and bathroom. The first floor is wheelchair accessible. The
Guest House can accommodate up to five overnight lodgers. The downstairs
bedroom has two twin beds; the upstairs bedroom can sleep three.
Weeknights (Sunday-Thursday, 5 pm - 2 pm):
Rate: $40/person/night.
Deposit: One-half of total.
Weekends (Friday 5 pm - Sunday 2 pm):
Rate: $40/person/night. On weekends there is a two-night
minimum(totaling $80).
Deposit: One-half of total.
Weekdays (9 am - 5 pm):
Rate: 1-8 people, $10/person with a $30 minimum.
Deposit: One-half of total.

How to Book Leaven Facilities
- All groups must make their reservations by calling Karen Bota
at the Leaven Center at 989/855-2606 (Monday — Friday, 9 am
- 5 pm ET).
- A deposit is due within 10 days from the date that the reservation
is made. If the deposit does not arrive within 10 days, the facility
can be booked to another group. Rentals are subject to use tax,
unless group is tax-exempt.
- The balance of the rental will be due upon arrival at the scheduled
event.
- Cancellations must take place at least 60 days before your scheduled
event in order for you to receive a full refund ($50 will be held
for a service fee).
- Please note that your pets must be left at home. Service and guide
dogs are welcome.
